US got a record-breaking 40% of its energy from carbon-free sources in 2022, report reveals


In summary, the US saw Carbon-free sources supply over 40 percent of its total energy output in 2022 which is an all-time high. This figure combines renewable generation such as solar, wind and hydro with nuclear power. The US also saw electric vehicle sales surge by 50 percent in the same year. In the EU, solar power has soared by almost 50 percent with wind and solar producing more electricity than fossil gas for the first time renewables were responsible for a record fifth of the block’s electricity.
