Dorceta E. Taylor is an American environmental sociologist, author, and professor. She is currently a professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Environment and Sustainability. She is particularly known for her research on environmental justice and environmental racism. Her research has focused on environmental policies and their implications for environmental justice, barriers to environmental justice and equity, and the role of gender and race in environmental decision-making. She has also written extensively on the history of environmentalism and the role of communities of color in environmental movements. Taylor has also researched and written on the history of African-American environmentalism, the legacy of civil rights in the environmental justice movement, and the role of African-American women in the U.S. environmental movement.
